NOVEMBER NEWS- Please read

I am sorry for my lack of emails this month- I just got a bit behind with my own kids' sports, grad school and just life in general. So sorry.

IMPORTANT NEWS

1. PICTURE RETAKE is Monday!!! Please make sure your child is ready for pictures if you would like a retake!
2. CRANBERRY DAY is Tuesday!  Students will need to bring in the ingredients they discussed with their group by Monday.  This will ensure that I pick up any extra items needed for Tuesday baking!
3. Monday the River classroom will be doing a lesson on trees with the students. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us!
4. TSHIRT money was due today but if you would still like to order a $10.00 shirt let me know.

MATH
Math these past few weeks has been great! Students are progressing through the standards very well.  The students have learned a strategy for rounding and comparing numbers along with reviewing adding and subtracting with decimals.  We will continue with multiplication for two weeks after Thanksgiving and then they will be assessed on their understanding of these concepts.

READING
Students are identifying main ideas and key details and using those to write summaries.  They will be working on this skill for the next few weeks.

SCIENCE
Students have shown great understanding of the Water Cycle. I will be giving them a study guide and their crossword back to study the terms for a test on Tuesday after Thanksgiving.  Students will be doing the unit performance task after the break. They will need to show their understanding of the water cycle by writing a story of a water droplet going through the different parts.

SOCIAL STUDIES
Students are working on their performance task for Exploration. They are writing a journal from the point of view of an explorer in that time period.
