The students listened to a very informational presentation on the Nashua River Thursday. Mrs. Chilcoat, our presenter, gave the students background about the Nashua River. They learned that prior to the Water Act in the 1970s, factories were allowed to discard their waste into the Nashua River. This polluted the water with their paper and dye, making the Nashua River inhabitable. Fortunately, the Clean Water Act made this illegal and people began to clean up our river and many around NH. Now the river is a habitat to many animals, bugs and organisms.
We will have a chance to observe all of these next week!
